award 2015
Here is the fantastic award we were give for winning best B&B in the South West at Weston Super Mare Grand Pier,,It caps off what has been a wonderful year for us at Elmdene. We will have to get a bigger shelf for this one. We hope all our usual guests will again stay with us this year and help us celebrate this fantastic achievement.

Absolutely delighted to announce that Elmdene was a gold winner at the South West tourism awards at Weston Super Mares Grand pier last night. The opposition came from Gloucestershire all the way down to the Scilly Isles. There were a couple of silver and bronze in our category (best B&B / INN) and only one gold winner. Sometimes you are scared to dream but as the others were called out and we were left until last it was an amazing feeling. We will post some photos and a picture of the fantastic glass award in the next couple of days. What a sensational year for our little family run business. Thanks to everyone who has stayed with us, supported us with online reviews and made this dream become possible. A lovely boost for our town as well. Torquay beating Cornwall and Dorset is a major plus for us. Lets hope the sun shines and everyone has a fantastic season

Winter Improvements

We are busy at work painting and decorating in readiness for the new season. Rooms 4 and 6 have had a spruce up ,,and the usual repairs and maintenance are in full flow. We are at Weston Super – Mare pier on the 12th February for the South West awards. It is a really prestigious night where it really is the best of the west battling it out for the awards. We are up against some very good establishments as this award covers the whole of Devon, Dorset and Cornwall . We will post some photos of the big night and give you a report on how we fare. Fingers crossed everyone.

Visit Devon B&B of the year

accountsWe would just like to show you our gong for winning the above award. It takes pride of place at the front of our guesthouse. We have also been put forward into the south west finals at Weston pier on the 12th feb. This covers the whole of the south west from Gloucestershire to Lands End so the opposition will be pretty tough to say the least. It is an achievement to get as far as this so we will be going there and hoping we have done enough to get on the podium for a third time. Heady Days at the Elmdene

We will strive to continue to give our guests the very best that the glorious Westcountry can offer. For those that have not seen it here is the Text from a recent article on the Exe valley eggs website

Now it’s the Five Star Egg Award

Torquay’s Elmdene Hotel is garlanded with awards and recommendations. Its bed and breakfast experience is 5 Star rated by Visit Britain and it has won a silver award in Visit Devon’s Best Guest House awards. On TripAdvisor it gets five star reviews from customers for every category from sleep quality to value and earlier this year it was named as one the best in the UK for customer service in the website’s Travellers’ Choice Hotels With Exceptional Service awards. Individual reviews range from “fabulous” to “faultless”.But even so owners David & Tracy have just discovered a new category for recommendation… Best Eggs at Breakfast. One of their delighted guests was so impressed by the taste and freshness of his breakfast egg that he just had to find out where he could find a regular supply near his home. So having found Exe Valley Eggs on the hotel’s list of carefully selected local food producers he contacted us. Barry from Newton Abbott said: “Your eggs are amazing. The one I had for breakfast at the Elmdene tasted how eggs used to taste.”

Back at the Elmdene David said: “We spent a long time on ensuring that all the local products we buy in are the finest quality and freshness. Exe Valley Eggs were recommended to us and we decided to try them. The sample eggs we had were so good we actually wondered whether a regular supply could possibly maintain that level of quality. Well it does.
“This is far from being the first guest to comment on the eggs they are served. People usually say ‘what is the secret of how you cook your eggs to get them tasting so good’. And we always tell them that the secret is to start with a fantastic egg.”
